How it all started

To solve the problem of soul-destroying traffic, roads must go 3D, which means either flying cars or tunnels. Unlike flying cars, tunnels are weatherproof, out of sight and won’t fall on your head. A large network of tunnels many levels deep would fix congestion in any city, no matter how large it grew (just keep adding levels). The key to making this work is increasing tunneling speed and dropping costs by a factor of 10 or more – this is the goal of The Boring Company. Fast to dig, low-cost tunnels would also make Hyperloop adoption viable and enable rapid transit across densely populated regions, enabling travel from New York to Washington DC in less than 30 minutes.

The First Tunnel will soon be open!

The good news is not over yet, it will be free to the public. Elon Musk previously said that “started out as a joke” and He himself admitted that the project might fail. On the contrary, he was a bit serious about this project which was shown by him being tight-lipped about the project’s progress. He also used several publicity stunts including selling $500 Flamethrower which made by The Boring Company itself to fund testing and development of the project.

The Company also plans to have its system run high-speed between the cities. This will pave way for Hyperloop project to run with ease. Elon Musk stated about this in May, that it would make the cost of traveling as little as $1.
