Students can secure an admission in any of the IISERs either through JEE Mains, KVPY or the SCB exams, provided they clear the eligibility criteria as required.
Indian Statistical Institute
Indian Statistical Institute is a multilocational group of institutions with headquarters in Kolkata and mainly focuses on the application of Statistics in Natural and Social Sciences. The institution has four centres across the country in Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai and Tezpur with its headquarters located at Kolkata. Founded by Prof.P.C.Mahalanobis in the year 1931, this group of institutions gained a spot under the ‘Institutes of National Importance’ list as per an act of the Indian Parliament in the year 1959.

Founded by Jamshedji Nusserwanji Tata in the year 1909 in Bengaluru, the Indian Institute of Science(IISc) is an established organisation in the field of research in engineering, sciences, design and management.
IISc is also known to conduct high-impact research, generating new knowledge and applying their expertise towards the success of national science and technology initiatives. The institute has also been in the news recently for the successful completion of a prototype of a ventilator under ‘Project Praana’ in June 2020.
Aspiring students can enter this institute by clearing the conventional entrance examinations i.e. JEE Mains, NEET, GATE, GMAT etc.
Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology is a government-aided institute mainly for study and research in the field of space science. The institute was founded in 2007 in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala by Madhavan Nair, Then Chairman of ISRO under the Department of Space(DOS).
Located in Valimala, Thiruvananthapuram, IIST is Asia’s first Space University and has seven departments, all of which focus on state-of-the-art and research on space science and technology to cater to the needs and demands of the Indian Space Programme.
Ranked 30th under the NIRF rankings as of 2019, IIST also boasts of an uber-modern residence facility in Valimala and an observatory in Ponmudi Hills, Thiruvananthapuram. Students aspiring to graduate from IIST need to clear the JEE Mains with the requires cutoff, whereas aspiring post-graduate students are required to clear GATE with the required cutoff score.
Established by the Govt. of Karnataka in the year 1999, IIIT Bangalore is a deemed university under the de-novo category. It is considered as one of the best universities for IT in the country. Ranked 62 among the top institutes as per the NIRF rankings in the year 2020, IIIT Bangalore is a fully residential campus where students are encouraged to participate in both academics and extra-curricular activities.
The Institute has a friendly, relaxed atmosphere and also has played to host to several visiting celebrities such as industrial giants, scientists and government leaders from all across the world.
Students wishing to have a post-graduate certification from IIIT Bangalore are required to clear either Paper-I of JEE Mains or GATE.
